It’s a snowy winter afternoon (though warmer at -11 Celsius than the -18 Celsius windchill it was yesterday). Hudson’s ready for the weather though. Poor guy—he looks embarrassed about his getup doesn’t he, LOL?!
What to make for lunch?
I took out some phyllo pastry from the freezer a couple of days ago and have lots of mushrooms. I remembered seeing a delicious looking recipe on Pinterest a while ago which I saved to my board. Sure enough, I find it. The only problem is that it calls for puff pastry not phyllo…Oh well. I’ll give it a whirl away!
There’s something about using pastry and brushing the edges with eggs that makes me feel ooh la la French and like I’m channeling Julia Child…and so I pour myself a nice glass of red wine in her honour. What a delightful way to spend a Saturday afternoon non?
The wine I’m sipping is a Merlot from Southern France’s Pays d’Oc. It’s Les Jamelles from Marseillette, Aude. I always pick it when I dine at my favourite Frech restaurant (in Toronto), Select Bistro. It’s usually sold out at the liquor store as apparently restaurants buy it all out as soon as it comes in, but I managed to find some last week. Small victories 🙂
